Þingvellir
Installation
This installation is a composite of Icelandic memories — mossy plains, rainbow mountains, and northern air. Exploring the Iceland's mystery through poetic joy and texture, it expands upon Jiří Žák’s poem to capture the light and essence of a journey that remains vivid a year later.
Poem by Jiří Žák
Spíš na růžovém mechu
ve snu ti profukuje
a z temnoty kuchyňského stolu
vzejde vznik I zánik glóbu
nebo královské tabule
z běloby sněhu tvé číše
zní orgán srdeční jak
hrudní flétna
sto krónur bronzatí
tempem housenky
na rozkvetlé poušti
Þingvellir
A Surreal Weave of Time
The central unifying element is a rope of hair, woven over several years, which winds through the space to create a dreamlike image. Suspended by translucent lines, this "river" of hair flows from a teapot through natural found objects, circling stones like a current before descending toward hand-dyed pink fabrics and a "chest flute." Through this delicate arrangement of organic forms and textiles, the installation becomes a visual illustration equal to the poem—a record of a transition between the domestic and the mythical
